And you?

I take home a year.

That is the average worker's, after tax. Put in yours for a year, bonuses and extra months' pay included, and the card and the list redo the sums. It stays on this page.

The sums

The average full-time worker in Greece earns €26,563 a year before tax and takes home €19,625 after income tax and social security contributions (OECD, 2025, a single worker without children). Divided by 2,080 working hours, an hour of work pays €9.44.

A Tesla Model Y: €40,990 ÷ €9.44 = 4,342 hours. Two whole working years, and the next until early February.
A Big Mac: €4.90 ÷ €9.44 = 0.52 hours, or 31 minutes.

The Tesla: before Tesla's €980 destination and documents fee and the €2,990 Tesla Bonus its site takes off at checkout (€38,980 in all). Hours count 52 weeks of 40, whatever people in Greece actually work. More in what the index leaves out.
